A typical beginning to classic Russian fairy tales used to reference places far away is: “тридевятом царстве (In the three-ninth kingdom)”. This reference might seem obscure to most North Americans, but to Dmitry Chechernikov of RubNRoll.com, it hits home.
Growing up in Moscow during the decline of the Soviet Empire opened Dmitry up to a whole new world previously only dreamed of. His love for cars started with the Audi 100 that his father owned and with the introduction of the internet, his passion grew even further.
Inspiration from America started flowing through his computer monitor but one car in particular grabbed his attention more than any other: Brian Henderson’s avant.
Dmitry’s lust became a total obsession that consumed him. He could not eat or sleep until one day he went off and purchased a B8 A4 TDi Avant and began his quest to fulfill his childhood dream of owning an Audi. The first order of business was to get low. Dmitry knew he didn’t want to waste time with coilovers and immediately made a move to get air ride.
Air Lift bags made their way across the Atlantic Ocean and were mated to custom front struts fabricated by a local shop. Air Lift’s in house Autopilot V2 management was chosen for the simplicity and ease of use that Dmitry needed in his day-to-day commute. Next he needed a proper set of wheels to set his A4 off properly.
Since buying a set of 3-piece Rotiform or HRE rollers in Russia costs about as much as car, Dmitry started a lengthy search through local classifieds to find himself a quality 3-piece wheel at a reasonable price. Luckily he came across a set of wide Artec Turbo P wheels, the only question now was “will they fit?”
The fitment proved to be spot on. An aggressive 19×9.5″ front and 19×11″ setup on meaty 235/35/19 tires proved to be just what he needed to stand out in the world.
As it sits, this A4 Avant is a beauty but Dmitry tells us to keep an eye out because there’s still more to come! Hopefully this Russian low rider will inspire us westerners just as much as we’ve inspired him.
