Frosty the Snowman

Today’s showcase ride belongs to James Sokol, a man who’s seen a ton of euro events in his lifetime. If you haven’t heard of him before you’ve probably seen some pics of his floating about on various online and paperback publications.

James has hit up a ton of Euro events in the hopes of taking home top prizes. The last two years have seen his daily driven MK6 GTI take on a ton of mileage as it covered:

  • 2010 Fall show and Go (2nd place)
  • 2011 Spring Show and Go (1st place)
  • 2011 Sport Compact Spring Show (1st place)
  • 2011 Summer Slam (1st place)
  • 2011 Waterfest 17 (1st place)
  • 2011 VAG fair (1st place)
  • 2011 Dubs on the Delaware (1st place)
  • 2011 Eurothon (1st place)
  • 2011 H20i (Top Dawg contestant – Top 10 in entire show)
  • 2011 LIVC (1st place, Best water cooled)

Who’s your daddy now huh? Honestly, seeing this list of events doesn’t surprise me one bit as we’re constantly seeing shots of this ride on the Facebook pages of these shows. James’ ride isn’t only for show as it manages to push out 405hp and 395lb of torque at the wheels thanks to a complete AWE Tuning K04 turbo on GIAC Race software. Most of the internals are powder coated Monster Green to give it that added flair and differentiate it from the rest of the Candy White crowd.

What first caught my eye on this car are the color matched 18×8.5” Fifteen52 Tarmac’s. I simply love the pure and clean look of that flat 5 spoke wheel design and the way its design contrasts with the more angled MK6 body lines.

I feel like I am forgetting something important but can’t put my finger on it. Oh yeah, the air setup! Air Lift XL fronts and Air Lift rears are what take James’ GTI to the next level of cool. Dual ViAir 380c compressors pushing air into a 5 gallon aluminum tank painted to resemble a can of Monster energy drink finished off with custom bent hard lines complete the custom trunk setup.

This peppy white MK6 GTI has got everything James could ever ask for in a daily driven monster.  Although his love affair with the energy drink has inspired much of his green highlights, it’s his frosty white shell that pulls everything together.  Big shout outs go to Phantom Autowerke in NYC for the Air ride install.  Check out the breakdown:

  • Air Lift XL front bags
  • Air Lift rear bags
  • Dual ViAir 380c compressors
  • 5 gallon Aluminum 7 1/2 port tank
  • Dual Numatics water traps
  • Bilstein rear shocks
  • Stainless steel hard lines
  • Chassis notch front and rear
  • Custom air ride controls in arm rest
