Who would expect an old school low rider guy would join the dark side of bags? This pumped up 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS owned by Lucky Muyot ended up being run on a hybrid air over coil setup for an all around better and smoother ride and handling than the old stock suspension. Lucky also found that running bags is comfortable even at a low setting and can become very practical for your daily driven ride that takes you around town. Having best of both air and static worlds by rolling on a bag over coil setup is something that Lucky is able to brag about whenever someone asks him how he’s able to drive so low. He’s also quoted as saying that the response of air is just as quick as hydros while still maintaining enough trunk space for cargo even with a full sound system incorporated. I guess he’s a convert!
Lucky’s Monte Carlo was resprayed by Cliff Casem in a full Jet black color. Note that the frame was also painted and pinstriped. That’s when you know your modding obsession has become a more than just a hobby!
Since this car is daily driven, the mod list is short but sweet but enough was incorporated so that the mobster side of this Monte was able to come out. The list starts with a set of 17×8 Raceline “muscle” wheels all around, drilled and slotted front rotors, Flowmaster exhaust, Nardi steering wheel and HIDs which gives this ride a hint of the flair from Denzel Washington’s Monte Carlo in Training Day.
The suspension setup was installed by ES-GEE Designs in Hawaii and consists of:
- Slam Specialties bags
- GC 450 valves
- 12 gallon tank
- (2) ViAir 480c Compressors
- 1/2″ lines
- Belltech shocks
Thanks again to Danny Castillo for the pics, keep riding dirty!
